National Spicy Guacamole Day is on November 14th in the United States.
Rather than celebrating guacamole in general, this is another of the more specific days celebrating a particular type of guacamole.
Guacamole is an avocado based sauce that originated from the Aztecs in Mexico. It can range from a bland, or mild, cooling dish to one that can be quite spicy, depending on what ingredients are used.
All guacamole uses a lot of avocado in the mix - that's one thing to check for on store-bought guacamole, the percentage of avocado; some is less than 10%, which is terrible - as well as other ingredients. Peppers are commonly used, and there are different types. Guacamole can be made spicy by adding chillies to the mix. As there are different types of chillies, some of which are a lot spicier than others, the type and quantity will make a difference as to how spicy the dish turns out. JalapeƱos, which are common in Tex-Mex dishes, are a popular type.
